Accreditation Fees for 2016-2017 Evaluation Cycle (06.11.2015)

Upon the recommendation of Finance Committee, new accreditation fees for those programs which will be evaluated in the 2016-2017 evaluation cycle are determined by the Executive Board at its meeting numbered 2015-11 and dated 05.11.2015 as given in the following table.

International Engineering Alliance 2015 Meeting Held in İstanbul, Turkey (07.07.2015)

2015 meeting (IEAM 2015) of International Engineering Alliance (IEA) was held Intercontinental Hotel in İstanbul, Turkey, on June 22-26, 2015 under the host organization by MÜDEK. IEA is the umbrella organization of Washington Accord of which MÜDEK is the signatory.

The meeting was conducted open to 153 representatives of those associations from 29 countries which were either signatory or provisional signatories of the following agreements under IEM or invited association: Washington Accord, Sydney Accord, Dublin Accord, International Professional Engineers Agreement, APEC Engineer, International Engineering Technologist Agreement.

MÜDEK was represented by Executive Board Chair Ramazan Yıldırım, MAK Past Chair Timur Doğu, MAK Vice-Chair A. Bülent Özgüler, MÜDEK Secretary General M. Yavuz Erçil as delegates in the meeting.

Some important headlines from the meetings:
  • The opening speech was delivered by Professor Hasan Mandal, member of Steering Board of Higher Education Council of Turkey, who is also a MÜDEK member. Professor Mandal's presentation summarizing the activities for enhancing the quality in higher education drew the attention of the audience.
  • Another opening speech introducing the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) was delivered by Mehmet Soğancı, President of TMMOB.
  • In the same session, two more speeches were delivered, one by the President of ENAEE introducing ENAEE'yi and another by the President of FEANI introducing FEANI
  • In the area of accreditation of engineering education, the prominent issue was the acceptance of the document "Best Practices" prepared jointly by ENAEE. The document was presented jointly by the chairs of Washington Accord and ENAEE Administrative Board.
  • In the area of IEA Competencies in Engineering, the prominent issue was the signing of "International Engineering Technicians Agreement" as a fourth agreement for technicians by 6 members.
  • In this meeting, no new signatory was accepted to Washington Accord. Costa Rica's accreditation agency was accepted as a provisional signatory. The decision on the application of another contry's accreditation agency was deferred for voting in the virtual environment.
  • IEA Chair Basil Wakelin, in his closing speech, pointed out specifically how successful the meetings and social activities had been conducted, thanking MÜDEK and organizing company DEKON. Later, several participants congratulated both MÜDEK and DEKON for a perfect organization.

International Engineering Alliance 2015 Meeting will be Held in İstanbul, Turkey (18.05.2015)

2015 meeting (IEAM 2015) of International Engineering Alliance (IEA) will be held in İstanbul, Turkey, on June 22-26, 2015 under the host organization by MÜDEK. IEA is the umbrella organization of Washington Accord of which MÜDEK is the signatory. The meeting will be conducted as open only to representatives of those associations which are either signatory or provisional signatory of the following agreements under IEM:

   - International Professional Engineers Agreement
   - APEC Engineer
   - International Engineering Technologist Agreement
MÜDEK will be represented by Executive Board Chair Ramazan Yıldırım, MAK Past Chair Timur Doğu, MAK Vice-Chair A. Bülent Özgüler, MÜDEK Secretary General M. Yavuz Erçil in the meeting.

Before the IEA meeting in İstanbul, Seoul Accord meeting will be held on June 20-21, 2015. The Seoul Accord is an agreement among agencies responsible for accreditation or recognition of computing and IT-related qualifications. MÜDEK is not a signatory of this agreement, however MAK Member Şebnem Baydere will be participating meetings of this accord as an observer representing MÜDEK.

Erbil Payzın Attending IQA Workshop: Quality in Higher Education Meeting (14.05.2015)

A. Erbil Payzın, MÜDEK member, will be attending to the meeting titled IQA Workshop: Quality in Higher Education as an invited speaker representing MÜDEK and will deliver a presentation titled Outcomes-Based Accreditation: An Agent for Change and Quality Improvement in Higher Education Programs. The meeting is organized by the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK) and Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and will be held in Nicosia, North Cyprus on May 28-29, 2015.

MÜDEK General Assembly Held (23.03.2015)

MÜDEK 2015 General Assembly was held at the location and time announced earlier on March 21, 2015 Saturday. Since the quorum had not been reached in the first meeting, this second meeting was held without considering the quorum as announced. There were 21 participants as MÜDEK members in the meeting. As a result of the elections participated by 18 MÜDEK members, Executive Board and Auditing Board for the 2015-2017 period were formed as follows.

MÜDEK Self Assessment Report for First Cycle (Bachelor) Engineering Programs Updated (09.03.2015)

MÜDEK Executive Board, in its meeting on 07.03.2015, accepted the amendments on the Self Assessment Report for First Cycle (Bachelor) Engineering Programs document presented by the Criteria Committee and the updated document is published as Version 2.3 (in Turkish).

Those programs, which will undergo review using Version 2.1 of the Criteria for Evaluating First Cycle (Bachelor) Engineering Programs starting from 2015-2016 accreditation cycle, will use the updated version of the Self Assessment Report.
