MÜDEK Re-Authorized to Award EUR-ACE
Label Until the End of 2018 (29.10.2013)
MÜDEK has been re-authorized by ENAEE to award EUR-ACE Label by the decision made by ENAEE
Administrative Council on October 16, 2013 to its accredited undergraduate (Bachelor) engineering
programs until December 31, 2018. MÜDEK's first authorization to award EUR-ACE Label had been given on

Visiting Azerbaycan Qafqaz University (15.10.2013)
Erbil Payzın, Chair of Executive Board of MÜDEK and Bülent E. Platin,

MÜDEK representatives between October 24-26, 2013 upon the invitation
of this university for the purpose of informing and making contacts on

MÜDEK is planning to conduct accreditation evaluations of
123 undergraduate engineering programs (46 of them are
interim and show cause evaluations) of 27 institutions in
2013-2014 accreditation cycle.

A paper titled Program Outcomes: The Core of Program Accreditation by A. Bülent Özgüler, M. Yavuz Erçil, A.
Erbil Payzın, and Bülent E. Platin is published in the 12th Issue of Engineering Education Journal of
AEER (Association for Engineering Education of
Russia).
The paper focuses on program outcomes as the key component of accreditation process. A comparative account,
in the light of eleven years of experience, of the first cycle program outcomes of MÜDEK is given.

2012-2013 Accreditation Cycle by Numbers (13.07.2013)
MÜDEK evaluated 79 engineering undergraduate programs of at 17 institutions in 2012-2013 accreditation cycle.
A pilot implementation on the use of student evaluators is also conducted in this accreditation cycle. Two of
the evaluation teams had one student evaluator in each.
As a result of evaluation activities of the 2012-2013 cycle, conducted by a total of 109 MÜDEK volunteers, 8
programs are granted five year long, 19 programs three year long, 34 programs two year long, and 15 programs
one year long accreditations and EUR-ACE (First Cycle) Labels valid for the same periods. Three of the programs
evaluated are not accredited.
The number of programs accredited by MÜDEK is reached 157 as of July 01, 2013.
New Members of Criteria Committee (05.07.2013)
MÜDEK Executive Board, at its meeting held on June 22, 2013, appointed the following new members of the
Criteria Committee to operate for a two-year term of 01.07.2013-30.06.2015, according to the Item 6a of
the Directive on Policies and Procedures for Evaluation and Accreditation, to replace the current members
of the committee whose term end on 30.06.2013:

AEER Calls for Papers to Publish in Engineering Education Journal

AEER (Association for Engineering Education of
Russia) invites to send articles for the 12th issue of the journal "Engineering Education". The upcoming
issue will focus on professional accreditation of engineering programs worldwide. The authors will have an
opportunity to share with Russian academic community best practices, problems and features of professional
accreditation systems in different countries and agencies.

Second MÜDEK workshop in 2013 for administrators and

MÜDEK General Assembly Held (01.04.2013)
MÜDEK 2013 General Assembly was held at the location and time announced earlier on March 30, 2013
Saturday. Since the quorum had not been reached is the first meeting, this second meeting was held without
considering the quorum as announced. There were 20 participants composed of 19 MÜDEK members and 1 guest in
the meeting. As a result of the elections participated by 18 MÜDEK members with voting rights, Executive Board
and Auditing Board for the 2013-2015 period were formed as follows.

Higher Education Council Extended MÜDEK's Quality Evaluation and
Registration Certificate for 5 Years (15.03.2013)
The application of MÜDEK made on August 15, 2012 to Higher Education Council (YÖK) was accepted by the General Assembly of YÖK held on February 01, 2013
and it was decided to extend the validity of MÜDEK's Quality Evaluation and Registration Certificate
