Important Dates for 2008 Accreditation Applications (27.12.2007)

January 31, 2008: The deadline for Higher Education Institutions to submit to MÜDEK a list of programs for which they intend to apply for accreditation in 2008.

February 29, 2008: The deadline for MÜDEK to inform institutions about the their programs that can be evaluated in 2008 as well as their accreditation fees and payment schedules.

March 31, 2008: The deadline for institutions to submit their official confirmation letters for their accreditation applications.

July 31, 2008: The deadline for institutions to submit self assessment reports of the programs that they applied for accreditation in 2008.

August 31, 2008: The deadline for MÜDEK to inform institutions about the expected conformities of submitted self assessment reports.
Visits to Institutions in 2007-2008 Cycle (04.12.2007)

Some of the site visits of programs to be evaluated by MÜDEK in 2007-2008 cycle are being made by MÜDEK teams on dates December 02-03-04, 2007. Remaining site visited will be conducted on December 09-10-11 and 16-17-18, 2007.


MÜDEK Becomes the First National Accreditation Agency Recognized by Higher Education Council (27.11.2007)

The application of MÜDEK made on October 31, 2007 to Higher Education Council (YÖK) was accepted by the General Assembly of YÖK on November 16, 2007; and according to the article 7/e of the related regulation, it was decided to recognize MÜDEK as the national quality assurance agency specializing on the national, sectoral, and program specific competency of engineering programs at higher education institutions and to issue Quality Evaluation Certificate to MÜDEK valid for a period of five years. Therefore, MÜDEK became the first national accreditation recognized by Higher Education Council.


Experience Sharing Meetings of Evaluations Teams (02.11.2007)

Experience sharing meetings will be held at Bilkent University on November 03, 2007 and at İstanbul Technical University on November 10, 2007. Members of the evaluation teams that will conduct accreditation evaluations in 2007-2008 cycle will attend one these meetings.


ENAEE President G. Augusti's Visit to MÜDEK Headquarters (01.10.2007)

Guliano Augusti, the president of ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education) visited MÜDEK Headquarters located at the İstanbul Office of TTGV on October 01, 2007. Executive Board Chair Refik Üreyen, MAK Chair Erbil Payzın, Previous Chair of MAK Ayşe Erdem-Şenatalar, MÜDEK Treasurer Birgül Tantekin-Ersolmaz and memeber of Executive Board and MAK Bülent E. Platin attended the meeting with G. Augusti, during which he was briefed through a presentation about MÜDEK's operations and future plans.


2007 List of Accredited Programs Published (30.09.2007)

The list of programs accredited by MÜDEK for the year 2007 is updated and published as of September 30, 2007.


Change in MÜDEK Terminology: From Now on ACCREDITATION will be Used to Replace COMPETENCY (28.09.2007)

According to the decision of MÜDEK Executive Board dated September 28, 2007,

  • All programs that were granted "competency" by Engineering Evaluation Board will be assumed to be "accredited" by MÜDEK and
  • In all MÜDEK decisions and announcements, "accreditation" term will be used to replace "competency".

MÜDEK Training Workshop Held for Evaluators (18.09.2007)

MÜDEK Training Workshop for Evaluators is conducted at Kırkpınar Training and Lodging Facilities of Sakarya University on September 15-16, 2007.


MÜDEK Directive on Policies and Procedures for Evaluation and Accreditation Published (02.08.2007)

MÜDEK Directive on Policies and Procedures for Evaluation and Accreditation is accepted at the MÜDEK Executive Committee meeting held on July 31, 2009 and published.


Accreditation Fees and Their Coverage for 2008-2009 Evaluation Cycle Determined (31.07.2007)

Accreditation fees and their coverage for 2008-2009 Evaluation Cycle are determined by MÜDEK Executive Board as follows:

  1. For all general review and interim evaluations with site visits to be conducted in 2008-2009 cycle, the following VAT excluded accreditation fees will apply: 4,000 YTL for each institution plus 4,000 YTL for each program evaluated (1,500 YTL for each program evaluated by interim report).
  2. Except in-campus transportation of teams, no further service and/or payment will be required from institutions such as transportation to/from institutions, food and accommodation, communication, etc.
  3. Invoicing and payment details of accreditation fees will be determined and published in MÜDEK web page.
  4. Annual maintenance and publication fees will be determined in future accreditation cycles.

MÜDEK Operational Regulations is accepted at the MÜDEK General Assembly meeting held on June 23, 2007 and published.


Technology Development Foundation of Turkey (TTGV) Became Corporate Member of MÜDEK (28.06.2007)

The membership application of Technology Development Foundation of Turkey was in the agenda of MÜDEK Executive Board held on June 27, 2007 and TTGV is accepted as corporate member. Now, TTGV is the second corporate member of MÜDEK after KalDer.

MÜDEK Workshop for Institutions (30.04.2007)

MÜDEK Workshop for institution intending to apply for MÜDEK evaluation or planning to make improvements in their programs according to MÜDEK criteria will be held in Ankara on May 26, 2007 (Saturday).


Applications for 2007-2008 Evaluation Cycle (15.04.2007)

Those faculties of engineering submitted a letter of intent in January 2007 for their programs be evaluated by MÜDEK in 2007-2008 cycle are expected to make their evaluation applications until August 01, 2007, the latest.

Self assessment reports and their appendices prepared separately for each program to be evaluated should reach MÜDEK as one printed copy and one CD each.

The last day of application is the deadline for reports to arrive MÜDEK and delays in postal service will not be pardoned.

Faculties will later on be asked to send at most 4 copies of printed and CD forms of those reports found appropriate in format and content to the members of evaluation teams.

MÜDEK Established as an Association (29.03.2007)

MÜDEK, conducting the evaluations of engineering programs in national level since 2003 under the name "Engineering Evaluation Board" as a non-governmental initiative, gained its legal entity as an association as of January 25, 2007.


ENAEE Membership (29.03.2007)

MÜDEK is accepted as a full member of ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education) as of November 17, 2006.
