New Version of MÜDEK Directive on Policies and Procedures for Evaluation and Accreditation Published (06.12.2011)

Version 1 .3 (in Turkish, its English version yet to be published) of MÜDEK Directive on Policies and Procedures for Evaluation and Accreditation is published. New version of the Directive is created by the amendments made at the MÜDEK Executive Board meeting held on October 29, 2011. Important changes made in the Directive are summarized below.

  • Item 5.1(i): This is a new sub item. The self assessment report of a program applying for accreditation first time will be pre-evaluated by MAK. If some reporting and/or criteria shortcomings are found that will result in a not to accredit action for the program, the accreditation evaluation of that program will be ceased.
  • Items 5.1 and 5.2: Some new provisions are added to various sub items of these sub items. Program applications will be assumed to be withdrawn if programs do not request accreditation evaluation by its deadline or they do not submit their self assessment / interim reports by their deadline.
  • Item 6(a): Team chairs may also be selected among experienced program evaluators who served as a MÜDEK evaluator at least two evaluation cycles before.
  • Item 9(a): In order to synchronize the MÜDEK evaluations of all programs of an institution, next general reviews of already accredited programs of that institution may be conducted in six years or less than five years instead of five years, if needed.
  • Item 9(c): In interim evaluations, if some shortcomings and observations exist that were not cited in the previous evaluation and if they determined to be arisen after the previous evaluation, then they will be considered under the Item 14 and they will affect the accreditation decision for the program.
  • Item 9(i-2): During the process of forming the final report to be given to the institution, the exit statement may be mitigated for various reasons but it may also be worsened if needed.
  • Item 11(h-6, h-7): Show Cause is separated into two as Show Cause Visit (SCV) and Show Cause Report (SCR).
  • Item 12(b): This is a new sub item. A regulation is made on those programs that will be removed from the List of Accredited Programs at the end of their accreditation duration granted before.
  • A set of editorial improvements are made and some explanatory statements are added to clarify the meaning of several items.

MÜDEK Team Delivered a Briefing in YÖK General Assembly Meeting (22.09.2011)

Less Than One Month Left For Self Assessment Reports To Arrive MÜDEK (06.07.2011)

Self assessment reports of programs which will undergo general or interim evaluations by MÜDEK during 2011-2012 accreditation cycle must reach to MÜDEK on August 01, 2011 Monday, the latest (since July 31, 2011 is Sunday).

We would like to remind that you may download from the MÜDEK web site (http://www.mudek.org.tr/en/belge/doc.shtm) the latest versions of Evaluation Criteria, Self Assessment Report, Issues to be Considered During the Preparation of Self Assessment Report, and all other relevant documents to use when you are fine tuning your reports.

The deadline of the interim reports for Show Cause evaluations, prepared by the institutions, to reach MÜDEK is September 30, 2011, Friday.

All reports must be sent to the new address of MÜDEK Headquarters.

Birgül Tantekin-Ersolmaz Attending Opening Session of European BEST Engineering Competition (04.07.2011)

2011 List of Accredited Programs Published (30.06.2011)

The list of programs accredited by MÜDEK for the year 2011 is updated and published as of June 30, 2011.


New Regulation on Interim and Show Cause Evaluations (27.06.2011)

At the MÜDEK Executive Meeting held on June 18, 2011, it is decided to consider new shortcomings of the "Deficiency" or "Weakness" nature, in addition to previous shortcomings during interim and show cause evaluations, within the scope of "Article 14 Changes during the Period of Accreditation" of MÜDEK Directive on Policies and Procedures for Evaluation and Accreditation. This regulation will be implemented as of 2011-2012 accreditation cycle. An appropriate arrangement in the related directive will be made very soon.


MÜDEK Becomes Signatory of Washington Accord (15.06.2011)

The application of MÜDEK to become a Signatory of Washington Accord was accepted by an unanimous vote in the IEA (International Engineering Alliance) Washington Accord meeting on June 15, 2011, during the IEA Meetings 2011 held in Taipei, Taiwan.

Two Kinds of Show Cause (SC) Evaluations (05.05.2011)

At the MÜDEK Executive Meeting held on May 05, 2011, it is decided to replace Show Cause (SC) evaluation with two different evaluations; namely, Show Cause with Visit (SCV) and Show Cause with Report (SCR) from now on and to implement this arrangement immediately so that they will start being effective for accreditation decisions in the 2010-2011 accreditation cycle.

Terms of 2011-2012 MAK Members Started (02.01.2011)

Terms of MAK members that will serve for two calendar years during 2011-2012 period started on January 01, 2011. During this period, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Aran will serve as the MAK Chair and Prof. Dr. Timur Doğu will serve as the MAK Vice-Chair before assuming the Chair position in the next term. Prof. Dr. A.Hamit Serbest, MAK Chair of previous term, will continue to serve in MAK as the past chair. Among the MAK members, Mustafa Çobanoğlu, representing industry, and Salih Arıman, representing KalDer, will serve their third and last 2-year terms while Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Tanık, representing academia, will serve her second 2-year term. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan B. Alankuş, as a newcoming MAK member representing industry, will replace Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erbil Payzın, who has been serving in MAK since 2003 and served as past chair last term. Prof. Dr. Müfit Gülgeç, as a newcoming MAK member representing TMMOB, will replace Orhan Örücü, who has been serving as TMMOB representative since 2006. Thanks go to MAK those members, whose terms are ended for their very precious services, wishing a productive and successful term to the new MAK team.
