M. Yavuz Erçil Elected as ENAEE Administrative Council Member (Posted on 27.09.2020)

M. Yavuz Erçil, member and former Secretary General of MÜDEK, is elected as the member of Administrative Council (AC) of the ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education) at the General Assembly (GA) meeting of ENAEE, which MÜDEK is a member of. The GA meeting took place on September 18, 2020 and his 3 year term of AC membership will start on January 01, 2021. Thus, MÜDEK will be represented by two members in the 9-member AC of ENAEE . We congratulate M. Yavuz Erçil for getting elected for this post in the upper administration of this umbrella organization in the area of accreditation of engineering education in Europe and wish him a successful service at this post.

Bülent Özgüler Conducted the DEPAD-UDEPAK Evaluator Training Workshop in Virtual Environment as MÜDEK Trainer (Posted on 18.09.2020)

A. Bülent Özgüler, MÜDEK member and Former Chair of MÜDEK-MAK, conducted the evaluator training held on September 12, 2020 for members of DEPAD-UDEPAK (Association for Accreditation of Dentistry Education Programs - National Dental Education Accreditation Board) The workshop was carried out by video conferencing method in Zoom environment and participated by 11 university representatives. Video presentations on UDEPAK Accreditation Process, Undergraduate Programs Evaluation Criteria, Before, During and After Visits, Consistency in Evaluations, Behavioral Aspect in Evaluation Process, and Report Writing were watched at the workshop. In addition to the presentations, the participants worked on different case studies in 4 different groups in 3 different sessions in virtual rooms.

First Program Evaluator Training of 2020 Held in Virtual Environment (Posted on 08.09.2020))

MÜDEK Program Evaluator Training, which had been planned to be held in June 2020 and postponed due to the pandemic, was held in two parts in the virtual environment. The first part of the training was carried out between 28 August and 04 September 2020 in the form of individual work over a classroom created for this purpose in Google Classroom. In Part 1, the participants watched video presentations about the introduction, the evaluation process and evaluation criteria of MÜDEK and made individual studies on various case studies. The second part of the training was conducted on 05-06 September 2020, in two sessions, using video conferencing. In this part, which was conducted in the workshop format, the participants worked on various case studies in small groups in virtual rooms and watched presentations on Consistency in Evaluation Decisions, Behavioral Dimension in Evaluation Process and Report Preparation. The training was attended by eight program evaluator candidates, five of which were academics and three from the business world. It is conducted by Erbil Payzın and Şebnem Baydere.

New Type Coronavirus - MÜDEK Decisions (Posted on 30.03.2020)

1. All association activities being postponed and YÖK having allowed to switch to on-line education in universities due to the circular of the Ministry of Interior, dated March 16, 2020, MÜDEK assessments, including the visits not yet realized as of 18 March 2020 to be postponed to the 2020-2021 period.
2. The process regarding the visits that took place before this date to be continued as planned, the accreditation decisions to be announced on 01.07.2020 after the MAK accreditation decision meeting to be held at the end of June 2020,
3. In line with the decisions taken at the MAK meeting numbered 2020-2, the ongoing evaluations that have been transformed from the visit to the report or to the evaluation in virtual environment and the ongoing evaluations to be continued in accordance with the planned schedule,
4. In this context, for the 2019-2020 accreditation period;
1. The evaluations of the programs that have applied for evaluation for the first time to be made in the 2020-2021 period and their accreditation -in case the accreditation is given- to be started as of 01 May 2021,
2. Prolonging the accreditation of the programs that have applied for re-evaluation, interim evaluation and show cause evaluation until 30 September 2021 and evaluating these programs in the 2020-2021 evaluation period,
3. The evaluations of the programs that have applied for interim evaluation and show cause evaluation and other than the applications in articles 2 and 3 above, should be evaluated in the period of 2020-2021, and the decision of "Show Cause" to be given for the programs in which the weaknesses in the previous evaluation are found to continue,
4. Continuation of the evaluation by report processes without interruption, if the team and the institution find it appropriate,
5. The evaluation of the accreditation applications made in the 2020-2021 period to be be carried out in the 2021-2022 period,
1. Submission of the Self-Assessment and Interim Reports, which should be taken from the programs in this period, in July 2021 instead of July 2020,
2. The accreditation of programs whose accreditation will expire on 30 September 2021, to be extended until 30 September 2022,
6. In the period of 2021-2022, no new applications to be received for the first time general review, only re-evaluation and interim evaluation applications to be received.

HEQC Vice Chair Sibel Aksu Yıldırım Visited MÜDEK (posted on 20.01.2020)

Vice Chair Sibel Aksu Yıldırım of HEQC (Higher Education Quality Council of Turkey) conducted a site visit to MÜDEK on Thursday, January 16, 2020, as the person in charge of the administration of overseeing process for MÜDEK in connection with the Overseeing External Evaluation and Accreditation Agencies of HEQC. During the visit, MÜDEK-MAK Vice Chair Şebnem Baydere delivered a presentation about MÜDEK activities. The visit lasted entire day with some mutual opinion exchanges between the visitor and MÜDEK team, which also included the Chair Timur Doğu, Vice Chair Müjgan Sağır and the member Engin Arıkan of MÜDEK Executive Board.
