Yavuz Erçil received his B.S., M.Sc. and PhD degrees from Boğaziçi
University (Turkey), University of Manchester Institute of Science and
Technology (UK) and Brown University (USA) in 1974, 1976 and 1981,
respectively. After completing his military service as an officer in the
Naval Shipyard Taşkızak in 1983, he started working as a test systems
design specialist at Mosaic Systems Inc., Michigan, and then from 1988
onwards, as the Chief of Integrated Circuit Design Department of Teletaş,
Istanbul. In 1992, he joined the R&D Center of Arçelik AŞ, where he
worked in several positions including as the manager-Electronic
Technologies of the Center, until his retirement in 2010. He started
working for MÜDEK in 2005 as an evaluator for Electrical and Electronic
Engineering programs and, then from 2010 until 2020 he served as the
Secretary General of the Association and as the manager of MÜDEK
Economic Enterprise. After leaving those two posts he worked voluntarily
as a MÜDEK program evaluator and program evaluations team chair until
his election as the Chair of MÜDEK Executive Board in 2021. In 2023 he
stepped down as the Executive Board Chair and has been serving as a
member of MÜDEK Advisory Board and an evaluation team chair since then.
In 2020 he was elected for three years as a member of the Administrative
Council (AC) of ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation Engineering
Education) during its General Assembly and served as an AC member from
2021 to 2023. In 2023 he was re-elected for a second term and will
continue to serve an AC member until 2027.
