AMENDMENTS ON MÜDEK OPERATIONAL REGULATIONS

Amendments made in the General Assembly held on March 20, 2010
  • Article 4.1 is amended as follows:

    Previous:

    4.1 Duties, Powers, and Responsibilities of MAK

    1. Preparing and implementing a detailed schedule for the accreditation of undergraduate and graduate degree programs of the engineering and engineering- architecture faculties of universities in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on behalf of MÜDEK and making decisions regarding accreditation.
    2. If requested, evaluating undergraduate and graduate degree programs in engineering, other than those of the engineering and engineering and architecture faculties of universities in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, subject to the means available, and without making decisions regarding accreditation.
    3. Selecting the program evaluation teams and program evaluators, co-evaluators, team chairs, and co-chairs to be appointed to these teams.
    4. Nominating program evaluators.
    5. Proposing to the Executive Board amendments to the standing accreditation processes and evaluation criteria as needed.

    4.1 Duties, Powers, and Responsibilities of MAK

    1. Preparing and implementing a detailed schedule for the accreditation of engineering undergraduate and graduate degree programs and making decisions regarding their accreditation on behalf of MÜDEK. These programs are limited to those located in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and recognized by the Council of Higher Education of Turkey.
    2. Selecting the program evaluation teams and program evaluators, co-evaluators, team chairs, and co-chairs to be appointed to these teams.
    3. Nominating program evaluators.
    4. Proposing to the Executive Board amendments to the standing accreditation processes and evaluation criteria as needed.

    Legislative Intentions:

    1. To make accreditation evaluations of engineering programs possible in faculties other than faculties of engineering and faculties of architecture and engineering (faculties of agriculture, faculties of forestry, faculties of water sources and faculties whose names do not carry "engineering" word as in İTÜ and Yıldız Technical University) and in other higher education institutions (military academies).
    2. To limit accreditation evaluations with the programs recognized by Higher Education Council (YÖK).
    3. To limit the evaluation of engineering programs with accreditation evaluations.
