Programs Required for Accreditation Application

Programs listed below are required to apply to MÜDEK by January 31, 2017, if they want to be evaluated by MÜDEK for accreditation in the 2017-2018 accreditation cycle.
  • Undergraduate and masters programs seeking for MÜDEK accreditation for the first time.
  • Programs previously evaluated by MÜDEK with accreditation terms expiring on September 30, 2018. Programs evaluated by MÜDEK in 2015-2016 cycle requiring an "interim evaluation" in 2017-2018 accreditation cycle are included in this category.
Programs without any application until January 31, 2017 will not be evaluated in the 2017-2018 accreditation cycle and accreditations of those programs whose accreditations will expire on September 30, 2018, will be terminated as of that date.

A different application schedule will be used for those programs that are in the process of being evaluated in the 2016-2017 accreditation cycle and will end with a "Show Cause" decision in 2017. The schedule for "Show Cause" evaluations is given below.

Programs Eligible for Application for Accreditation and their Relevant Institutions

An evaluation application for the purpose of accreditation can be filed for bachelor's and master's degree engineering education programs of the higher educational institutions in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, recognized by the Council of Higher Education of Turkey.

A program applying for accreditation should include the word "engineering" in its title.

Any program applying for the first time should have graduates before the date of application.

If a program applying for accreditation provides options to the students to complete the program, then each such option should meet all the evaluation criteria.

In an institution which is making an accreditation application for one its programs,
  • if there is a second education program with graduates and/or
  • if there are similar education programs* which issue diplomas not different than that is of the program for which accreditation application is being made,
then these programs shall be evaluated according to the following principles:
  • The applications should be made for normal, second, and similar education programs.
  • The institutions should prove that each of such normal, second, and similar education programs meets the MÜDEK criteria, separately.
  • Second or similar education programs, which did not undergo evaluation since they had no graduates at the time of the evaluation of the corresponding normal education programs was taking place, should apply with the next evaluation of their normal education programs, concurrently.
* Similar Education Programs: Programs which are in the same discipline as the engineering program being applied, using a similar curriculum, and issuing the same diploma (Examples: Engineering programs in the same discipline but instructed in another language, joint engineeriing programs in the same discipline but administered jointly with another institution) Fees for these programs will be the same as those for Second Education programs.
